Vineyard The 2019 Monkey Jacket has the highest percentage of Valdiguie ever at 53%. This results in a wine with impressive vibrancy but exceptional seriousness driven by the blend of varieties from vineyards carefully selected and located in Mendocino, Napa, Sonoma, and Suisun counties. 58% Mendocino, 31% Solano, 7% Napa Valley, 3% Carneros, 1% Sierra Foothills
Viticulture All vineyard work is done by hand. Yields are small and only sustainable methods are used.
Vinification Approximately 25% of the blend was fermented whole cluster. All of the grapes were fermented in concrete and then pressed into older French oak barrels, a few puncheons, and concrete tanks, with an eye on the transparency of fruit. Malolactic occurred naturally with the wine receiving a light sulfur addition immediately before bottling.
Production 3,000 cases produced
Notes "Raspberry tart, sweet summer flowers, bramble, and the slightest hint of grilled meats and cherry pie. Bright, crunchy acidity, refreshing finish with just a bit of simple tannins that cleanse. If a red wine can be thirst quenching then this is it." - Michael Cruse
