The Vineyard is flat and even with a deep topsoil of silty clay loam before it hits a bedrock of sandstone and shale. It’s nutrient rich and vigorous and requires meticulous practices to achieve optimal fruit. The vineyard thrives on late morning and afternoon sun and experiences cooling breezes from both the San Pablo Bay (through a gap in the North Carquinez Hills) and Suisun Bay to the southeast. Evenings and nights are chilly, resulting in a temperature differential that is ideal for the acid structure of our style.
