Kronos Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Corison Vintage 2019 Bottle Sizes 750ml, 1.5L Country United States Region California Appellation Napa Valley Wine Type Red - Still Varietals 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Farming Organic Vineyard Kronos Vineyard is located between Rutherford and St. Helena, where deep, stony alluvial soils provide ideal growing conditions for the Cabernet vine. These vines regularly produce some of the most concentrated and superbly ripened fruit anywhere. Soil Stony alluvial soils Viticulture The Kronos Vineyard is 8 acres under vine, planted in 1971 on St George rootstock. Cathy thinks it is clone 2 grafted on top. The row spacing is 10’ X 8’, with approximately 4,200 vines planted. The 20 year average is 1.25 tons per acre in the Kronos Vineyard. Pruning usually happens a little later in Kronos compared to the other vineyards Corison farms in order to limit the exposure to Eutypa. Vinification Approximately 22 months in French Oak, with about 50% of the barrels being new each year. Once bottled, the Kronos is bottle aged for an additional 18 months. Production Extremely limited Notes "A textbook season, warm weather in April kick-started the 2016 vintage on the early side, followed by a moderate July and very cool August. Typical of our autumn weather, a late warm spell brought the vintage home. With nary a day over 100F from veraison through harvest, nighttime lows were downright cold all summer, preserving good natural acidity and enabling inky color and singular complexity for the win. The 2016 boasts immensely complex fruit flavors with more of the bright red and blue end of the Cabernet spectrum than in some vintages. Black cherry, blueberry, elderberry and plum join the characteristic blackberry and boysenberry notes for a kaleidoscope of aromas. Floral perfume of violets and lilac chime in, with baking spices, dried herbs, cocoa nibs and wet-stone minerality adding yet more layers of harmony. Like the voices in an accomplished choir, the blend is seamless. As always, the tannins are abundant and feel like velvet and the finish goes on and on. This wine displays remarkable unity" - Cathy Corison Back to Current Releases
