Vineyard Hyde Vineyard is situated on gently rolling slopes of the Carneros appellation, on the Napa side. The chardonnay vines were planted in 1992. Summer temperatures are kept relatively cool by marine air flowing through the Petaluma Gap. Ancient creek beds provide drainage and add a scattering of rocks.
Soil The soils are quite heavy clay loam about 30 inches deep with impenetrable clay subsoil which limits vine vigor and crop yield.
Viticulture Harvested on 9/5 at 22.4 brix.
Vinification The grapes are whole cluster pressed and fermentation occurs in new french oak barrel. Malolactic fermentation did not occur. Bottled March 2018.
Aging Aged approximately 6 months in french oak barrel.
Production 188 cases.
