Nacré Semillon 2012
Private: Forlorn Hope
Bottle Sizes 750ml
Country United States
Appellation Napa Valley
Wine Type White - Still
Vineyard Grown in the heart of the Napa Valley, just north of the town of Yountville, by Andy Hoxsey. Vines planted in the 1950s by Andy and his father. Organic farms sustain diverse ecosystems with higher populations of plants, insects and animals that encourage healthy, well balanced vineyards. The grapes enjoy both warm days on the Valley floor, and cool nights by the Napa River, resulting in flavorful wines with great acidity.
Soil Mix of alluvial loam, river cobble, and volcanic.
Viticulture All the vineyard work is done by hand.
Vinification Hand-picked and pressed whole cluster, and underwent primary fermentation in neutral barrel. The wine was filtered to prevent malo-lactic fermentation and was bottled in January of 2013 after a short four months of elevage in order to allow the significant portion of the wine’s aging and development to occur under cork. Aged three years in bottle prior to its release in the winter of 2016.
Production 377 cases
Notes "Nacré" is french for the color of the oyster pearl.
