Fleurie Pied d’Aroux 2017

Justin Dutraive Vintage 2017 Bottle Sizes 750ml Country France Region Beaujolais Appellation Fleurie Wine Type Red - Still Varietals Gamay Farming Organic Vineyard From Justin's mother's vineyard, Pied d'Aroux, which lies on the steep hill at the top of Fleurie's south facing vineyard La Madonne. Vines are around 70 years in age. Justin is now farming the vines. Soil Pink granite. Viticulture The vineyard is farmed using organic methods and in accordance to the lunar cycle. Vinification Semi-carbonic maceration takes place during fermentation. The grapes are macerated on their skins for 15-30 days and are fermented naturally with indigenous yeast. Used Burgundy demi-muids are used during élevage. Minimal sulfur is added at bottling. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Aging Aged for 8 months in used Burgundy demi-muids. Production Extremely limited (2 demi-muids). Notes After another devastating year at Domaine de la Grand'Cour - 90% yield lost due to weather and the hailstorm in July destroyed all of La Chapelle des Bois. With no fruit for Justin to create cru Fleurie, his mother came to the rescue offering him the opportunity begin using her vines to create his first vintage of Pied d'Aroux. In 2018, Justin took over farming Pied d'Aroux. 2017 is his first release. Back to Current Releases
