Vineyard Since 2015, the Crozes-Hermitage cuvée Les Marguerites comes from two parcels. The first is lieu-dit Pierre Aiguille close to Hermitage facing south-east, east. The second lies in the Gervans village facing west. Total vineyard area of 0.6ha. Vines average over 80 years old.
Soil Granite
Viticulture All vineyard work is done by hand. Vines planted at a density of 8,000 to 10,000 vines/ ha. Yields are 23 hl/ha.
Vinification Each parcel is vinified separately. 50% whole cluster. Maceration and crushing in open inox tank for two weeks. Native yeast fermentation in inox tank, regular punchdowns and pump overs. Malolactic fermentation in 5 year old barrels with only native yeast.
Aging Aged for 14 months in 1-5 year old barrels.
Production 1700 bottles.
Notes Cuvée name (Les Marguerites) is in honor of their mothers (both named Marguerite) along with the abundant number of daisies in Lieu-dit Pierre Aiguille.
