Viticulture A selection from all of Ceritas' sites nestled in the West Sonoma Coast including Hellenthal, Elliott, Occidental and Porter-Bass. Yields are small at 2.6 tons/ acre (33hl/ ha). Calera, Mt Eden and Swan clones. Vines are 15 to 45 years old.
Vinification Hand harvested and intensely sorted at the winery ensures only the best fruit goes to tank. Fermented with a lower percentage of whole clusters (10%) than the site specific wines results in a beautiful fruit forward wine. Free run juice is fermented for 15 days after a light pressing.
Aging Aged for 16 months in oak barrel (15% new).
Notes "Rich flavors of blackberry, briar and crushed stone on the nose are focused but not powerful. The palate is built around chalky tannins (10% whole cluster) and light but not intense acidity. Very focused and fresh with a grapefruit sorbet-like finish. This is the most approachable Pinot Noir we made in 2018. This is the one to drink now while the site specific wines rest for a bit." - John Raytek
