Gérard Boulay Vintage 2022 Bottle Sizes 750ml Country France Region Loire Valley Appellation Sancerre Wine Type Rosé - Still Varietals Pinot Noir Farming Organic Vineyard Gérard combines different parcels of his 2 hectares of Pinot Noir vines in Chavignol to create his rosé. Average vine ages is approximately 35 to 40 years old. Exposures vary but the majority are south facing allowing for great ripeness when harvested. Soil Marne kimmeridgean "terres blanches" (clay limestone) - more clay where the Pinot Noir is planted Viticulture As with each of Boulay's vineyards, organic methods are used as Gérard works the soils and harvest the grapes by hand. Vinification First press juice only. Fermentation always occurs naturally. Only natural yeast is used as nothing is added and no manipulation ever occurs. Aging Aged for approximately 8 months in tank. Production 6,000 bottles Notes In honor of his granddaughter, born in 2017, Gérard has decided to give a cuvée name to the rosé - “Sibylle".
