Lorenza Old Vine Rosé 2022

Lorenza Wine Company Vintage 2022 Bottle Sizes 750ml Country United States Region California Wine Type Rosé - Still Varietals 40% Mourvedre, 28% Carignan, 16% Grenache, 16% Cinsaut Vineyard Lorenza sources fruit from several vineyards that are over 100 years old in the Lodi area. The Bechthold Vineyard, our long time source of Cinsault was planted in 1847. The beautiful and expressive Grenache is planted in deep white sandy soil (think beach) with a history going way back before prohibition. The old, gnarled Carignan vines tell a long story and deliver a bright fresh burst of activity on the palate and crazy color from the skins. Recently more thoughtfully farmed, the fruit is more balanced and complete than in years past. The Mourvedre is farmed by an ambitious farmer with many varietals in his sandy soil. An important textural component for Lorenza, we get the only two rows he grows; they are the younger vines in this group. Soil Sand, clay Vinification Hand picked whole clusters were gently pressed and the pale pink juice was settled in cold stainless steel tanks. Fermentations were long and at low temperatures revealing a beautiful assortment of aromatics and flavors as they progressed. Blending occurred in early October followed by bottling in late December.
