Thomas Batardière Vintage 2021 Bottle Sizes 750ml Country France Region Loire Valley Appellation Vin de France Wine Type Red - Still Varietals Grolleau Farming Biodynamic Vineyard From a 0.33 hectare parcel planted in the 1960s in Rablay-sur-Layon. The vineyard is named "Case Neuve" and Batardière owns 1 of the vineyard's 2 parcels. Yields are only 25 hl/ ha. Soil Clay, blue schist, quartz, degraded and eroded Schist. Viticulture Vineyards are farmed biodynamically and certified DEMETER. The vines are pruned late to delay bud break. Vinification The whole bunches are harvested and put into vats with the stems. Maceration lasts for 4 weeks without any intervention, no pump-over, no punchdown. The solid matter is separated and before a final pressing and blending. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are finished in steel tank, and élevage also. This wine is not filtered; it is racked several times. All of the wines are bottled in September, before the harvest. No fining is ever done, nor is any oenological product ever added, with the exception of sulfur at bottling (15 mg/l in total). Aging Aged for 11 months in tank. Back to Current Releases
